Hollywood, European and world cinema's 50 hottest actresses. We look at talent, sex appeal, and body of work: all are part of the mix. Our list is topped by Salma Hayek, and includes names such as Eva Mendes, Kristen Stewart, Scarlett Johansson, Zoe Saldana, and Juliette Binoche.
This is a fine list. It's long and deep. We've considered Hollywood insiders and those such as Isabelle Huppert who have built a reputation in Europe. We've looked at Nollywood (African, particularly Nigerian cinema), Bollywood, and tiny nations such as Iceland and Greece.
Any list will leave out some worthy candidates. We can think of Carey Mulligan, Jessica Lange, Sharon Stone, Lea Seydoux, and Virginia Madsen, all of whom are worthy contenders on a top-50 list. But, the line has to be drawn somewhere.
